Lh Surge During Ovulation

Helen asks…

Do you think I have a good chance of being pregnant?

Me and my husband have been trying to concieve. My last period was April 27th and my predicted ovulation date was May 15th, but I think I ovulated on the 12th. We started having sex on May 1st and have had sex everyday til the 14th of May. Do you think I have a good chance of being pregnant? I got a ovulation predictor kit May 14th, which was yesterday and took it and it said I haven’t had a high LH surge yet during ovulation and then today I took it and the lines were lighter. Do you think I have passed ovulation? Starting on the 9th of May I started having this white foamy stuff after sex and I was super wet and my discharge was clear and slippery, then two days ago I had a dry spell. I have been dry ever since. What do you think? Please give me some advice. And how early can I go to get a urine test at the clinic? Thank you for your comments.

Sharon asks…

If fertilized at ovulatoin time, would the LH surge drop immediately? or would i have to wait for preg. test?

Okay, I am trying really hard to get pregnant. I am 30 and this would be my first child. I have been charting my ovulation and of course I have a LH surge (3 days ago). I have been attempting to get pregnant during this time. Today I checked and my surge is non existant. Is it possible that if the egg gets fertilized that the LH surge will drop immediately? I know you only ovulate for 5 days, but this morning I showed full ovulation and this evening NONE??? Can anyone explain this to me? My thought was maybe, or hopefully, my egg fertilized and it stopped my ovulation LH surge!!! any chances?
Thank you for the input…. so when do i know that exact 12 hours the egg is waiting? I am just too impatient!
Oh.. I have a sperm donor. My first day of ovulation we implanted the sperm, then second, then third and all the way up to even fifth (when no LH surge was present). But there were a few days he came at midnight and then back around 7 am then back at 10pm the next day. Basically there were a few times that he waited over 12 hours to return (he was too busy) I hope I did not miss that 12 hour span :*(

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

You only ovulate once, not for 5 days. You are supposed to have sex during the 5 days around ovulation *3 days before, the day of, and the day after* to increase your chances of becoming pregnant. Three days before because sperm can live inside you for 72 hours and the day after because if unfertilized, eggs have a very short lifespan. Good luck and baby dust!

Lisa asks…

Cramping and Bloating during Ovulation normal?

For about 4 months now I seem to be getting light cramps and gassy bloating around the time I ovulate. I have normal 6 day periods every month. Is this normal? I got checked last month and they did find a small fibroid when doing a internal sonogram but was told it’s nothing to worry about when conceiving and my doctor told me that I was OK to conceive. My husband and I have been trying to conceive now for 3 months and I’m 29. This month I should be ovulating now or already ovulated and I didn’t find my LH surge using the home ovulation tests, maybe I missed it and didn’t start testing on time. Last month I did find my LH surge on the 13th day of my cycle. I’m 2 days pass that already and no LH surge. I also had an abnormal PAP for the first time on my life 3 months ago, the doctors told me now to worry to much about that also and its common to have an abnormal PAP. Should I be concerned or I’m over reacting? Anyone else experience this?

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

It is possible that you ovulated later this month than you did last month or that you ovulated earlier and that is why it didn’t show up on the test. As for the abnormal pap, we all have them once in a while. It could have been that you had sex too close to the date that you had your pap (you should try not to have sex for about 3 days before your pap as it can alter your results), or you may have had a slight infection. The only abnormal pap I ever had was after I had surgery and I went to a GP instead of a GYN and he didn’t know I had an infection (neither did I) and my test came back abnormal. You haven’t been trying too long that you should be worried yet. If you are trying for over a year then you can see a fertility doctor and have some tests run but I wouldn’t worry yet. It takes healthy couples up to a year to get pregnant and sometimes longer. Good Luck.

Sandra asks…

Will antibiotics taken during the period of ovulation prevent conception?

I have just had my LH surge yesterday, and was diagnosed with a bladder infection today. Will taking the seven day course of antibiotics prevent conception?
I am trying to get pregnant so the issue of birth control and antibiotics is a non-issue. I had my LH surge on Tuesday and was diagnosed with a bladder infection on Wednesday, so I want to know if the seven day course of anti-biotics will interfere with the natural course of conception.

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

Thats a GREAT question! I have gotten pregnant on antibiotics and birth control 2 years ago, so i wld say it would increase your chances! GOOD LUCK… I also have a bladder infection right now too!
