There Lh Surge Before Period

Mary asks…

Has anyone out there used OPK’s before? I need your help!?

I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction as no nurses or doctors seem to care or want to help me. I have been using opk’s for a few months now after the birth of my baby. I have noticed that right before and right after my period, my LH is very low. My last period was Oct. 27 and I ovulated according to the opk on Nov. 12. My periods have been between 32-35 days. I detected my LH surge on Nov 12 (Saturday) with my FMU (first morning urine) as instructed by the test. I continued to test every morning thereafter including this morning and every morning since Saturday, the test has been positive (test line darker than the control line.) I am 100% not pregnant and I am not use to using opk’s. Is it normal to have postive tests in the morning following ovulation? Even after 4 days? Someone told me that my urine is probably very concentrated? I would like to try for another baby soon and want to know if something is wrong with me now so that I can get it strightened out. Thanks for your help everyone!

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

You want a baby that fast? No wonder the nurses are not wanting to help. You need to give your body at least a year to heal. Getting pregnant too soon can cause a lot of health issues. Are you really able to wake up 3-4 times a night while trying not to throw up and being super sleepy?
Now if your periods are not 100% regular the tests will always be messed up. Mine turned positive only a week after conception. It never detected my ovulation or LH surge or anything until a week pregnant.
Every woman is different so my experience may not be the same as yours. Personally maybe a certain someone is trying to tell you to wait for baby #2.

No LH Surge yet…Day 19?

I have been trying to find out when i am ovulating by testing for a LH surge. I have been checking daily since Day 11 and every 2nd day before that since my last period ended..i still haven’t had a LH surge, is it possible that i will not ovulate?..I have a regular 28 day period.
Anyone out there that can help? x

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

Just make sure your OPK’s are in date and keep a record of when you have been testing etc. You can take this to a professional if you don’t have any luck in the next few months. May be worth logging on to a cycle planning website to record additional details like discharge (too much info!) that may also help you assess when you are ovulating if the tests aren’t working for you.

I’m sure it’s fine but keep the information just it’s not working for you. Good luck x

Sharon asks…

LH surge and PCOS?

My LH surge usually lasts about 4-6 days. I usually get a surge about 3 days before I ovulate and it will stay positive for about 2 days after I ovulate. I have recently read that an LH surge lasting longer than 3 days is an indication of PCOS. Is this always the case?? I chart my temps so I know I ovulate every month b/c there is a clear shift in temps. My periods last anywhere between 30-34days. I was at the doc in DEC for my regular PAP and told him I was TTC and showed him my charts and told him about the long-lasting +OPKs and he said everything looked good. He didn’t say anything about PCOS. So, is it always an indication of PCOS??

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

No it’s not an indication of PCOS. Women with PCOS can have extended LH surges or no surges, but having LH surges a couple of days long or even after ovulation does not indicate PCOS. It’s actually quite normal (initial LH surge can last a couple of days and LH continues to pulse during the luteal phase because it is partially responsible for maintaining the corpus luteum). The primary indication for PCOS is annovulatory or irregular cycles and hyperandrogenism (elevated serum testosterone and androstenedione).

LH Surge Query ……?

Hi there just a query any suggestions or ideas would be very helpful.

My last period was 24th May and this month i have been using OV test strips to try and fighure out when im going to ovulate my last cylce was 25 days and the time before that was 29 days.

I started using the strips on the 8th day of the cylce as it said on the instruction leaftet basing this on a 25 day cycle as my last.

I got negative results being only one line (control line) first few days, then on 3rd June i got two lines but the test line was very faint and according to packet this still a negative. then tested just min ago and it was totally negative just the control line.

on a 25 day cylce according to OV Charts i should be ovulating today but its negitatve.

Is it possilbe i could of missed it or am i just having a longer cycle this month as in the 29day cycle i had just before my last.

Hope this aint to confusing.

Many thanks xx

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

You might be having a longer cycle this month and ovulation is still a few days away or they didn’t detect your lh surge. Those strips are confusing sometimes. Last month all my tests were negative but according to my temps and cervical mucous i did ovulate. And this month one test looked positive then the next negative then the next positive again! So i use okp’s in conjunction with temping and checking cervical mucous. That way there’s no way of missing that egg!

I think it is WAY too early to tell! The baby hasn’t even implanted yet.
